They'd rather have yogurt? Fricken anti nitwits.

Honestly other than the Remingtion heritage being right there, If I was mgt I'd pack up and move the company and skip out on NY's insane taxes. No offense to my fellow NY'rs that work there.

ETA- After the Marlin move and the effects on the product line I don't want to think about Remingtion losing half of the skilled workers in a move and taking a year or 2 training newbs to make the guns right.

The comments at the end of the article are terrifying. One brain surgeon suggested letting Remington leave, then turning the plant into a museum. Right, because a museum would easily generate the kind of tax revenues and good, high paying jobs that a manufacturing plant employing over 1000 people would. The stupidity of these people is beyond belief. Remington is not only the oldest firearms manufacturer in the United States, it is one of the oldest manufacturing firms, period. Techniques pioneered and perfected by companies like Remington and Colt Firearms helped usher in the concept of mass production and the Industrial Revolution, making the United States a world economic power. Following the Civil War, Remington was the largest manufacturer and exporter of arms to foreign governments in the world. Remington built many of the arms that helped America win the Second World War. Remington has never needed a government bailout, or PILOT program, or any other handout. They have rode out bad economies and remained a viable company for almost 200 years. All of this means nothing to the New York City liberal trash that run our once great state. As former LEO and Reminton armorer who has visited the Ilion/Herkimer area frequently, I can say with some degree of certainty that the loss of the Ilion plant would be the death of what is left of central New York State. Not that the leftist garbage from downstate give a damn. They will not be satisfied until they have destroyed this once great state.

I honestly don't know why Remington even stays in this POS state,

Come to think of it, why do any of us sane people stay in this freaking dump?

+1

I ask myself that question every day. If Remington decided to leave I would congratulate them on a smart decision. If their employees are smart, they would take the opportunity to move with them.

New York is a fucking joke. I hope Remington tells Cuomo to go fuck himself and just leaves the state.

I don't know what's worse, the comments or the article itself. So, force Remington out, which would cause around a thousand people to be unemployed.. but this would be good for the town and NY?

NYC should have zero say in what goes on Upstate. They have their own set of laws, their own police force which operates independently of any other police force in the state, and a Mayor who thinks he's going to be the next Fidel Castro. I just wish these idiot hipsters would realize the damage they're doing, but what the hell should they care? They still have their jobs and their way of life, so screw everyone else.

I'm absolutely taken aback but the amount of idiots that commented. I couldn't stand to read more than a few.

The anti's could give two shits about jobs involving the manufacture of firearms. As far as their concerned, we as gun owners, and the manufactures are to blame for all crime involving gun's

They would actually feel more sympathy for very individuals who commit these crimes, than law abiding tax payers.

It is amazing to me that the states like New York, that are trying to implement laws such as the microstamping are the ones losing their manufacturing base. They should take the threat of the gun manufacturers leaving their States more seriously.

Remington is owned by the Freedom Group which owns Marlin, DPMS, Remington, Panther Arms, H&R, Dakota Arms, Bushmaster and some other companies and can move Remington to one of their other manufacturing facilities. It may be tougher for Kimber to move but the extra manufacturing cost will cause them to lose market share, so they will have little choice to move their pistol manufacturing out of New York or gradually go out of business.

It is stupidity. The increased manufacturing costs because of this law will put these gun companies at such an economic disadvantage so they will lose a significant market share. Gun purchases are at record levels so either these gun manufacturers will have little choice move all or part of their manufacturing operations out of state. Either way the income of these area will suffer.

These politicians voting on these laws are usually from different areas of the State and think it will not affect their constituents. But this is not true. With reduced income means less taxes collected. But even worse is if Remington leaves the whole area of that part of the State will be economically devastated. The rest of the State will have to pour money in to the area to economically stabilize it. Guess where the money for that comes from?

The NYC crowd could not care less about anything north of Yonkers and even that is debateable.

normally I would be against a company leaving its historic home

but in Remington's case....leave, go south to a state that appreciates the jobs and the history of Remington
the carolinas or Georgia or any gulf state would welcome a new manufacturer

fuck NY city Fuck comrade cuomo

after reading the comments section some parts of this nation are truly hopeless....America is a victim of its great success.
