Anyone here have a Ruger Mini 14/AC556 with a factory folding stock?

I need some good pics of the folding mechanism so I can reverse engineer the design. I want to scratch build a 10/22 version of this stock. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This is the stock I'm talking about.

If you need anything else, give me a shout.

I'm piutting the finishing touches on my Mini before I send it to get hard-chromed. It's going to be an A-Team clone, albeit with a shortened barrel.

What did A-Team use? Standard Ruger Mini14 with stainless finish and folder?

Standard factory-folder Mini-14's (not GB's) in stainless finish with flash suppressors and ventilated handguards:

I can't remember who made the FS and HG, but they've since gone out of business.

(pic snipped to save on bandwidth)

FWIW, this was done in the early 1980s. I saw ads for Mini-14 factory folder style 10/22 stocks in the old now-defunct Firepower magazine. I've never been able to find one of those .22 stocks and have only seen a grainy pic or two of them.

Cool on you for remaking an AWESOME concept!

Bought this in '85.

Sweeeet!

Here is a sketch up of the stock I'm working on. I'm done designing the folding mechanism. Still working on the buttplate. Next, I'll work on the inlet and pistol grip. Then, I'll start making the real thing.

I had $125 saved up for one of the last 150 Falcon Factory-style folders made in 1991 for the Mini-14, but my car needed repairs, so I cancelled my order. Have regretted the decision ever since

I wish Ruger would re-introduce the old-style factory folding stock for the Mini.

That was a great stock. Love the one that's on my Mini-14GB blued factory folder; makes the rifle light and compact yet still fast into action. Flip down the buttplate, swing the stock open.

Now that ol' Bill is spinning away in his grave (over the re-introduction of 20/30 round mags), may as well cause him to burst into flames with the folding stock.

Yep.

Here's a better pic:

The FS was made by Federal Ordnance. Nowadays, you can get the ventilated handguard from Delta Force and an extremely similar FS from GunAccessories.com. My handguard just came in this morning, so it will be interesting to finally see it all put together. All I have to decide on now is whether or not to cut the barrel back to 16" before sending it off to be hard-chromed.

I wish Ruger would do three things:

1) As yu said, bring back the factory folder, especially with the newer, more accurate, Minis.

2) Release a factory folder that's made of the same composite as the Butler Creek folding stock instead of wood.

3) Release factory 40-Round magazines.

I'd be all over those like a rash.
