Who makes the cheapest complete upper? I like the DSA for $275 but it comes up to $390 with a $100 bcg and $15 charging handle.

I'd jump all over that PSA upper. In fact, I did.

Is the barrel of the Palmetto State upper chrome lined?

DiscipleGreg  [Member]

Yes, it's a 14.5 inch, chrome lined Wilson barrel with a 5.56 chamber, and It comes with a YHM Phantom 5C1 Comp/Flash Hider pinned on.

I priced this barrel with their lower rec. and lower build kit and it only came to 640.00 shipped. Would any of you have a problem with building a full Palmetto rifle? this would be my first AR.

Just remember.... IF you order an AR15 lower and AR15 parts they add an additional 11% Federal Excise Tax to the purchase price of the AR15 lower and AR15 parts.

Do separate orders for the lower (to go to your FFL) and all the other stuff (to go directly to you).

I used a PSA LPK and BCG for my latest build, not problems so far.

This Palmetto deal is a great one!
I love mine. Assemble on your lower, clean, lube, add sights and fire.

I'm not seeing anything about the barrel being chrome lined.

Edit: Oh, except the name of the item: "Palmetto State Armory 14.5'' 5.56 CL 1/7 Upper" and the CL stamped on the barrel in the photo... Nothing to see here, move along.

And has been test fired and is ready for your personal touch. Kits also include a lower parts kit and buttstock; DOES NOT INCLUDE STRIPPED LOWER. You can take pride in building your own AR15 rifle.

$450.00 plus shipping........................................ $485.00 with Carry Handle plus shipping"

Not a bad deal at all but for about $50 more you could get the same set up from PSA with 1/7 twist chrome-lined barrel and M4 feed ramps.

But as far as saving money goes for a basic AR15 rifle, RPG's deal would be hard to beat.

I just built my first AR. All PSA and everything was perfect. Quick shipping USA made parts and went together great. Shot it for the first time yesterday and no issues w/ great accuracy. I found better deals from PSA with the exact pieces I was looking for. Receivers match in fit and finish too.

As many have said, it's hard to beat the current deal offered by Palmetto State Armory.

I did my first and only build with a red x arms upper with a stainless barrel and its been top quality all the way. I know I don't have as much experience as most of the other people posting on here but I don't think going with the red x arms upper would be a bad choice.

I would suggest Del-Ton first then PSA in terms of price and quality. Del-Ton is one of the most trusted (if not the most trusted) source for low cost uppers and kits. More positive things are said about Del-Ton than all the other low end suppliers combined. I have purchased Del-Ton stuff myself in the past and it is good stuff and the service is awsome. Also, they give ar15.com discounts.

just finished an all PSA 6.8 build. Love it. Wish I had the money to buy that 556 upper and just throw it in the safe for later.

I have both and definitely give PSA's lower and barreled upper the edge in both quality and price.

Of course you have both as well and have concluded otherwise .

YMMV and obviously does.

Never touched a PSA. I have put a few Del Tons together and have handled COLTS and Bushmasters recently and over 28 years of shooting ARs. I pick Del Ton for Price and Quality.

JSE Surplus has some pretty nice deals on complete uppers. Not sure what exact parts you are looking for but most of their stuff is customizable on ordering and they have BCG included on their own "custom" uppers. I don't know their reputation around here, but I've read they sell pretty good stuff and have good customer service. I ordered their 18" stainless barrel complete upper "cosmetic blem" for a learning build (only $375). Still waiting for it to arrive, just ordered it this weekend. Anywho, just another place to look.
