I'm looking at getting a BCM 16" M4 upper receiver group and purchasing the BCM BCG and charging handle on my own. How difficult is that to do??
Thanks!
I searched, and read the stickys and dont see where this is addressed, I'm sure it's right in front of my face.... ah well.

Thanks again!

It's simple. You stick the charging handle part of the way in (with the upper upside-down, it fits down in a little channel slot, then slides forward). Then, you flip the BCG upside-down too, and stick the gas key on top into the slot in the bottom of the charging handle and push it in. The BCG pushes the charging handle the rest of the way in and latches.

It's just a stick it in, and you're done thing. No tools, or anything - it pops in. Easy.

+1. You should get yourself a good book or read up a lot on here. Look at some pictures to get really familiar with the AR platform. Good luck and happy reading.

BCM stands for a company named Bravo Company that makes first rate badass parts.

Link

BCG stands for bolt carrier group.

I'll have some pics as soon as they're done uploading to photobucket.

Here's pics (don't mind the excessive CLP, it's been stored for a bit, and I tend to slop it on if it isn't going to be fired for a while)

Upper receiver upside down with Bolt Carrier group (BCG) and charging handle (CH) removed.

Upper receiver upside down with CH inserted partially to allow BCG to be inserted.

Upper receiver upside down with CH and BCG partially inserted.

BCG and CH are pushed further into the upper here.

BCG and CH pushed all the way home (you're hear and feel a very distinct click).

Side view of upper receiver, CH, and BCG assembled.

Pic of complete rifle (just cuz)

Here's the epic version (less than a minute to fieldstrip and reassemble, and she's 11!!!)

You're correct about the educational.

Have you watched any of her other vids? Her dad takes her to tactical pistol courses. I wish my dad was that cool when I was 11
