There's something cool about a basic A2 that can't be denied. Mine's a box-stock Bushy. I'd post a photo, but I don't know how. But in a way they're cooler than the zombie killer custom jobs.

That there is a USGI cotton web sling. And despite what anyone says, you can "sling up" while shooting one of these almost as good as you can with a $60 leather match sling.

flat tops may be all the rage but A2's to me just look.....right

IDK what it is, maybe it's because when I was a kid (born in 1987) I saw footage of soldiers carrying A2 rifles, and that is what is burned into my memory as what an M16/AR15 should look like.

I think thats ther same with me, I was born in 1976 But the 1st AR I ever held was a A2 issued to my brother at the local NG armory. I was in love Plus seeing them on TV etc. Its been burned into all our brains. Plus to me the A2 is till the perfect all around KISS rifle.

My first AR15.

You just saved me money!

I just put a Magpul grip on my M4 and love it. But I had been thinking about defiling the stock, natural beauty of my A2 with one as well and now that I see what it looks like... not so much.

Thanks man!

Still got mine after 5 years and still LOVE IT! Took it out yesterday with the new Bushy M4 and in some ways, I like the A2 better. Had it threaded and put an A2 on there though, cause a hider-less AR just don't look right. Might have to go ahead and replace the FSP with one with a bayo lug too...

Colt M16A2 barrel, BCG, CH, handguards and CS stock.
RRA Receivers and LPK.
Magpul grip, PRI Mil-Big latch CH handle, Geissele SSA trigger.

One of the nicest AR's I've ever built, seen or shot (if I do say so myself! ). I just wish I didn't suck so bad with iron sights!

Sorry, just checked your join date, should've been clearer.

pictured is the second generation of lower from cavalry arms, it is one piece and made ban kosher during the AWB that sunset in '04.

nonetheless, for NYers like me who still have a ban, and for folks wishing to build lightweight AR's, there is NOTHING better.

the stock length is a bit shorter than A2,
they weight NOTHING,
they are as reliable and dependable as any aluminum lower
(they've run them in full auto 223 and 45acp with an absurd round count),
also, they are the only lower that you don't have to mod to use M3 Grease Gun 45acp mags.
so with these, we can build 45acp ar15's.
which are almost too much fun to ever stop shooting.
try it!

cavalry arms also makes alot of the furniture that comes standard with many rifles.
they are masters of plastic.
they also make a few other items, notably a simple A1 buis and adaptors for shotguns to fit AR grips and stocks with a picattiny rail on top to boot.

the atf raided them almost a year ago and STILL HAS NOT CHARGED THEM WITH ANYTHING!!!!!!

they confiscated the entire inventory and (remember no charges!) put them all up for auction in the wall street journal about 40 days after 'the raid'.

cavarms is a HUGE supporter of our community, both here on ar15.com and the larger shooting community.

they always do 'the right thing' and so we try and do the right thing and help them out by buy having fund raisers for their legal fight.

they are trying to get another run of these plastic lowers made, out of the last run they did - bout a month after the raid - there were none avialable within a month.

everyone wanted to help out.

these are 'cav aid' lowers, of the run made to help raise funds...

For more pics, just click on the first thread in the cavarms forum I linked to above.

and here's a pic of my remington shotguns, middle one has the cavarms sst 870 adaptor on it.
lets me put optics on top, and use an ar15 grip and stock.

yeah, since i've been on this site, i've been seeing that you guys in New York have a different set of rules to follow than seemingly everyone else. I had heard of lowers being made out of plastic, but I'd never seen one. I also didn't know that there was an AR chambered for .45 acp......you learn something new everyday!

My first AR was a Colt A2 Sporter II from the mid 80's, never did care for the large pivot screw pin and A1 non-fenced receiver. Here's my version I put together to make it look like a "G.I." type A2. Upper is 1/7 twist chrome bore by CMMG. Lower is a stripped 6520 from SAW Sales. Caliber engraving done by Orion Arms. JB Weld over the cheesy LEO markings and refinished with Norrell's Colt Dark Gray. I wanted that 1980's era color. Pics are not too great.
